What is it?

Measuring Up! is a free diagnostic tool for charities and social enterprises, to help them think about where they are now in their impact and evaluation practice, and where they need to be. It was developed by the Charities Evaluation Service for Inspiring Impact.

Is it right for me?

The tool is designed more generally for charities and social enterprises but can easily be adapted to youth work. It is simple and straightforward to use, and assumes no prior knowledge other than familiarity with what your organisation is currently doing in practice with relation to impact and evaluation. This tool is designed as a starting point, focusing on future action; it assumes a desire to progress and get to where you need to be.

Measuring Up! can be used by organisations of any size, and is designed to be completed within existing resources. Whilst it can be completed individually, it is recommended that you consider bringing a group of key stakeholders together to reflect on the questions and future recommendations.

How can it help?

It's an online tool that can be completed in stages and produces a report at the end based on the information you submit. The report gives an overview of where you are now, and makes suggestions about where to focus in order to improve your impact and evaluation practice. From start to finish, the tool would take around an hour to complete in detail.

It works well in conjunction with the Impact Hub, also produced for Inspiring Impact. You can search the Impact Hub for tools and resources in the areas your Measuring Up! report highlights.
